About the recording process

All samples were recorded in the same manner. Here is the way we did it.

Pedals were lined up in series on the floor and connected with patch cables

between each pedal. A 12 foot prolink Studiolink 500 Monster cable connected

the guitar to the first effect, and a 6 foot cable of the same type hooked the last

effect to the amplifier. The order of effects were as follows first in the chain was

the FUZZ, followed by in order, OVERDRIVE, COMPRESSOR, PHASER, TREMOLO,

CHORUS, and last was the DELAY.

A Sennhieser evolution series 609 was placed very close to the grill and just off axis of the

speaker cone. This was sent to the recording console at GOOD KARMA STUDIO , an

analog Carvin SL56 56 . The EQ was set flat on for this project as not to color the sound in

any way. This went to the Protools rig. and was recorded (usually in 1 or 2 takes). We

did not use any Protools plugins or other studio tricks to enhance the samples.

I had various local musicians volunteer to record samples on their personnel gear.

Each musician brought their own guitar and amplifier and played through the same

pedal layout as described above. The settings on the guitar amplifier and each pedal were left

to each musician. This was done so you could get an accurate example of what the pedals

will sound like with your own equipment. The musicians were asked to play a short phrase

without the effect, stop playing, engage the effect, then try to play the same or similar phrase

with the effect engaged. This was accomplished most of the time. I did edit out some of the "dead space"

between the clean and effected signal. Hope you enjoy the samples.
